D.G. Lockhart Funeral Directors was founded in 1991 by Gordon Lockhart. Gordon and his wife Jan served the local community for over 30 years, before retiring in 2024. The business changed hands and was taken over by long term employee, Rachael Miller.
Rachael & the team ensure the consistency, professionalism and "heart" of the business remains, whilst bringing a modern, empathetic approach to D.G. Lockhart Funeral Directors.
Our Services
D.G. Lockhart Funeral Directors offer assistance with all aspects of funeral care; providing cremation and burial services, direct cremations, "green" burials, care of the deceased in appropriate, respectful facilities, Golden Charter funeral plans, in-house coffin fitting & monumental masonry.
The High Street office provides a handy location to "pop in" & visible site for window notices, whilst Cuddy-Lane is just round the corner & provides the privacy and peace expected for arranging funerals or visiting loved ones. Funeral Directors are also available for home visits.
D.G. Lockhart Funeral Directors offer a range of coffins & provision of their Mercedes hearse & limousine.
Meet The Team
Rachael Miller
Rachael began working in the funeral industry in 2010 in a voluntary capacity and has worked her way up over the years, boasting a true “ground up” experience.
Rachael became the owner of D.G. Lockhart Funeral Directors following Gordon & Jan's retirement in 2024 and is responsible for all aspects of the business. Rachael is passionate about providing a homely feel at D.G. Lockhart and offering families the time, support and knowledge to make meaningful decisions at a difficult time.
Rachael lives with her husband & little boy and enjoys time outdoors with her family.
Paige Widdowson
Paige joined D.G. Lockhart as a trainee Funeral Director in December 2024. Approached for her friendly & caring nature, she has been a welcome addition to the team.
Passionate about fitness and wellbeing, Paige owns a local gym alongside her fiancé and has an online coaching business. She lives locally with her fiancé and pup, Ruby and enjoys making the most out of life.
Carl McCall
Carl joined the team in May 2022, having previously worked for the NHS. Carl lives with his wife in Dalbeattie and is an elder at Dalbeattie Parish Church.
Carl takes great pride in his attention to detail and works mainly within the operational side of the business, coffin fitting and driving the vehicles on funerals.
